Hello my name is Jordan Riehl, I am 13 years old and this is my second year in Lobstick 4-H Beef. I live on a farm North-West of Wildwood where we raise many different types of animals. Cattle, horses, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese. I enjoy spending time with my horse River. I am very excited for my heifer Pickle to give birth soon. This year for my beef project I chose an Angus cross steer I named Phil. We became fast friends. I purchased him from a farm South of Wildwood. Phil was born March 12th, 2020. At his first weigh in, Phil was 653lbs. I chose him because he had a nice straight back and he presented himself well. So far he has been very calm and after he has a halter on he is very easy to lead. This year I volunteered to be club secretary. I have found this to be a difficult role, requiring a lot of focus and quick processing. It has helped me to develop attentiveness and perseverance! However, I believe next year I will volunteer in a different position. Raising my steer is by far my favorite part of 4-H. I do also enjoy being part of a fun group of people with similar interests. If you want to know more about my steer, I would love to hear from you! Feel free to email me at 26riejor@gypsd.ca
