So you know King Ralph, right?! Well I have the next best thing to introduce you to...Ralph Klein, the bovine version. Yes you read that right, my steer’s name is Ralph Klein! My name is Dirk Pas and I’d like to tell you a bit about myself and Ralph. I am 13 years old and attend Mayerthorpe Jr/Sr High School. I live on a farm with my family northeast of Rochfort Bridge, Alberta and this is my 8th year in 4-H. Two things I really enjoy doing are helping my dad with field work and restoring an old pick-up truck I recently purchased. Ralph is a Simmental Angus cross, purchased from my neighbour’s herd. Ralph has an even temperament and has been great to work with from day one; a real easy keeper you can say! He is a very complete red steer with a lot of rib and I am sure the rib eyes will taste fabulous. I pen my steer with my sister’s steer and we share the workload of chores to be done. We have spent a lot of time on our steers this year and enjoy being in 4-H. Our family has spots booked at the local abattoir for June 10.
